Meet Susan

Founder and President of Espalier Events would have primary responsibility for undertaking and implementing the activities necessary to achieve a successful event. Susan has demonstrated her high level of capability in special events and design activities through a career of ever-increasing responsibilities.

Since graduating from Davidson College with a BA and studying at Savannah College of Art and Design and at the Art Students League of N.Y. Susan has had more than 18 years of experience in undertaking an increasingly complex level of event planning assignments and responsibilities.

In 1990, Susan undertook Special Events at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York. In 1992, Susan used her skills with Robbins WolfeEventeurs to design, promote and implement outdoor events throughout the Hamptons. She worked to make the Hampton Classic horse show the international success it is today. Following her four-year stint, Susan was recruited to work with Great Performances where she had primary responsibility for business development, design and implementation for large corporate events.

In 1998 Susan Co-Founded Espalier. She developed Espalier into a successful event planning business which, along with her talented team of associates, serves a broad range of large and small private and public clients with their event planning needs, strategic planning requirements and underwriting and fundraising activities.

Susan Cushing is an event planner, logistics manager, and designer. She has twenty-five years of experience in all aspects of event planning, design, production and implementation for sophisticated multi-venue and multi-day events which range from a 1,500 guest seated dinner to 12 person VIP round table. Susan excels in all aspects of event planning for corporate, fundraising organizations and private clients. Founder and Principal of Espalier Events, Susan has specialized in events which focus on achieving a client’s objective – whether fundraising, promotional, educational, or social; and undertaken events in New York City, Washington, D.C.,  the Hamptons,  and Florida with a wide range of clients with a broad range of event needs.
